Pick up and Drop off Information

The official school day begins at 8:00 a.m. Students who do not ride the bus should arrive no earlier than 7:40 a.m. Parents may drop students off in the “Parent Drop-off Zone” located off Carlin Springs Road side of the building. Parents wanting to go into the school building must park in a designated parking spot.

The school day ends at 2:41 p.m. Any student picked up prior to dismissal must be signed out at the main office. If after-school plans change, a written note or phone call to the main office from a parent must be provided. Students will only be permitted to change their routine and go home with friends, ride a different bus, or wait for parent pickup with main office notification.

Emergency Information

School Closings, Delays and Early Dismissals:

Bad Weather and Other Unusual Conditions

In case of snow, ice or other unusual conditions such as power outages and excessive heat, school officials may decide to close school, delay school opening or send students home early. News about these decisions is distributed through a variety of outlets (see below). Parents and students are urged not to call schools, administrative offices or the Transportation Office for this information. Here is what happens in each situation when the school schedule changes:

Schools Closed – All school buildings are closed. The decision is usually announced by 6:00 a.m. on all information outlets (listed below). Extended Day and Check-in are also closed. All school activities are canceled unless otherwise announced. Administrative offices usually remain open.

Delayed Opening – Schools will open later than usual; opening times will be announced on all information outlets (listed below) as soon as a decision is made. The decision to delay opening is usually announced by 6:00 a.m. All field trips are canceled. Breakfast is not served. Extended Day hours are delayed the same amount of time that schools are delayed.

Early Dismissal – Schools will dismiss early if conditions require. Dismissal times will be announced on all information outlets (listed below) as soon as a decision is made. This decision is normally announced by 11:30 a.m. Extended Day will close at 4:00. Afternoon and evening Adult Education classes and other school activities are usually canceled.

All area media outlets are notified in the event of school closings, delays and early dismissals. Radio and TV stations decide whether they will broadcast the information once they receive it from the school system.
