Overview
Odyssey of the Mind is an organization founded with the purpose of giving students an opportunity to solve long-term and spontaneous problems which highlight their creativity and teamwork skills. The Odyssey of the Mind teaches students to learn creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process. For more than twenty-five years, this unique program has helped teachers generate excitement in their students. Pamela Clark, the Resource Teacher for the Gifted, serves as the Campbell Odyssey of the Mind school coordinator who helps form teams and support coaches throughout the process, but participation in the program is not limited to students who have been identified as gifted.
Highlights from Previous Years
2022-23 Odyssey of the Mind
During the 2022-2023 school year, Campbell supported four Odyssey of the Mind teams. Two were primary K-2 teams who solved a long-term problem called Dino Parade, and two were competitive teams. One of the competitive teams with 3rd and 4th graders tackled the vehicle problem, and the 4th and 5th grade team did the performance problem. That team even received a third place award at the regional competition in March 2023 at Wakefield High School. Our main goal for Campbell’s Odyssey of the Mind program is to give students a chance to use their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving abilities in a productive and memorable way. Having the structure of the long-term problems and the flexibility to work creatively within that structure allows children to showcase their talents and ideas in various ways.
