Meet the Art Teacher

Norwood, M. Morgan Johnson Norwood
Ms. Norwood grew up in Atlanta, GA, and has been drawing since early childhood. She swing dances, plays the flute, and is a big fan of barbecue, Georgia Bulldogs football, and Blues music. Ms. Norwood is a working artist in addition to being an art teacher, and creates her own art at her Columbia Pike Artist Studios space. This is her 12th year teaching elementary art, and her 6th at Campbell. Ms. Norwood has two super kids attending Campbell, so this school feels like family. Ms. Norwood loves bringing her background in museums, object-based learning and contemporary art into her teaching.

Where is the art?

We save projects throughout the year for display at school and the community. Look for art coming home at the end of the year in portfolios.

Questions to ask your child:

  • What are you working on? What materials are you using?
  • What is your favorite part about your artwork? Why?
  • How do you feel when you’re creating?

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. -Pablo Picasso
